He was predeceased by: his parents, John Parviainen and Tyyne Parviainen; and his former wife Marlene. He is survived by: his wife Holly; his children, Todd Slater (Debbi), Linda Conner (Mike), Marci Moreland (Gary), Cindy Slater and Duane LaDuke (Emily Williams); his sister Jeannette Bradford; and his close friends, Albert Johnson, Mike Suronen and Brad Peterson. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
