She was predeceased by: her children, Margaret "Peggy" Shields, Catherine Klein, Timothy Shields and Patrick Shields; and her brother Jerome Merth.

She is survived by: her husband Robert Shields; and her children, Michael (Judy), Mary Robert (Jeff), Paul (Tracee), Thomas (Annie) and Sister Elizabeth Cole. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren.
