He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew Berres and Veronica Berres (Jostes); his adoptive mother Anna Thissen; and his siblings, Charles Berres, George Berres, Luverne Berres and Cecilia Berres.

He is survived by: his siblings, Joeseph Thissen, Leroy Berres and Marcella Wessinger. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
