He was predeceased by: his parents, Enno Schwitters and Hermena Schwitters (Meyer); his brother Mark Schwitters; and his grandsons, Jason Zuidema and Cole Zuidema.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Jane Tazelaar; his daughters, Verla Folkerts (Dalen) of Prinsburg, Diane Knorr (Clinton) of Hutchinson and Jill Eriksen (Kirk); his grandchildren, Jamie Duininck (Roy), Leah Krick, Derek Folkerts (Jenna), Lucas Zuidema (Kayla) and Lane Zuidema (Joanna); his great grandchildren, Breanna, Silas, Hudson, Lucy Duininck, Xavier Krick, Elliana Zuidema and Lora Zuidema; and his siblings, Judy Gunnink (Henry), Bradley Schwitters (Carolyn) of Pahrump, NV. and Brian Schwitters (Sheryl) of Clara City. He is also survived by ses other relatives and many friends.
