He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Thelen and Mathilda Thelen (Boes); and his sister Mary. He is survived by: his wife Linda Thelen (Scepurek); his son Steve Thelen; his grandchildren, Haley Thelen and Kendelle Thelen; and his siblings, Howie (Charlene), Ron (Mary), Dale (Vernell), Mark, Jean, Diane (Jerry) and Debbie. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society.
