He was predeceased by: his former wife Eldora Hafstad Aal; his stepson Brad Stier; his sister Carolyn Speed; and his brother-in-law John Speed. He is survived by: his wife Barbara of Chokio; his children, Elizabeth Ekblad (Jonathan) of Minneapolis, Catherine Murau (Martin) of Ann Arbor, MI, Jonathan Aal (Nancy) of Fargo and Margaret Matthews (John) of Jim Thorpe, PA; his stepchildren, Steve Stier, Matt Stier, Mark Stier, Pat Stier and Lisa Daak; and his siblings, Irvin Aal (Beverly) of St. Michael and Cynthia Carlson (Eric) of Decorah, IA.. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren.
