He was predeceased by: his parents, Steve Zalec and Frances Zalec (Debeljak); his son-in-law Rick Halldorson; and his sisters, Margaret and Mary Ann.

He is survived by: his wife Cathy; his children, Kevin (Kristin) and Pamela Halldorson (Corey); and his grandchildren, Luka, Hudson, Lena and Sawyer.
