He was predeceased by: his father Leonard Bernard of Chatfield, MN.; his wife Wendy Bernard; and his brother-in-law Rick Miller. He is survived by: his mother Eva Bernard (Tucker) of Halstad, MN; his children, Kim Bernard (Sandi) of Grand Rapids, MN, Kelly Talamantes (Steve) of Rochester, MN, Daniel Bernard (Kimberly) of Shelly, MN and Lacey Martinson (Kevin) of Hoople, ND.; his siblings, Shirley Anderson (Paul) of Strandquist, MN, Diane Hagen (Owen) of Grygla, MN and Dale Bernard (Dodi) of Pryor, MT; and his sisters-in-law, Dyanne Miller of Fertile, MN and Deborah Tripp of Hackensack, MN.. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
