He was predeceased by: his parents, LeRoy Gathje and Helen Gathje (Dushek); his wife Donna Brevig; his son Brian Gathje; his grandson Trenton Merkel; and his brother Lawrence "Larry" Gathje.
He is survived by: his daughters, Wanda Gathje of Eagle Lake, MN and Debra Gathje of Rochester, MN; his grandchildren, Amber Siebel (Ryan) of Alamogordo, NM and Reed Merkel of Spring Valley, MN; his great grandchild Ezekiel "Zeke" Siebel; his brother Donald Gathje (Louise); and his sister-in-law Bernice Gathje. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
