He was predeceased by: his parents, Herb Spitzer and Mary Spitzer (Gathje); his wife Dianne Marie Hasley; and his parents-in-law, Elger and Anita Hasley.

He is survived by: his daughters, Darla Bushman (Marvin) of Chatfield and Debbie Eckhart of Stewartville; and his grandchildren, Morgan Bushman (Angel Ramirez Rojas) and Mitchell Eckhart of Rochester.
