He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Ekstrom and Edna Ekstrom (Frank); his wife Shirley Hoen; his great grandchild Jaxon Ostman; and his siblings, Bernice, Charles Barris, Warren, Diane Ekstrom, Eunice and Louis Nichols.
He is survived by: his pet Johnny; his children, Pam Ostman (Don) of Chaska, Barb Schoenrock (Chuck) of Prior Lake and Jeff Ekstrom (Tamara); his grandchildren, Dave Ostman (Jordan), Josh Ostman (Palee), Brad Schoenrock (Jackie), Sandy Schoenrock (Todd McIntosh), Cody Ekstrom and Casey Ekstrom; his great grandchildren, Carly, Haley, Raven McIntosh and Hailey Ostman; his siblings, Francis Ekstrom (Jolene) and Floyd Ekstrom (Pat); and his cousin Esther Waltenburg. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
