He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Bratland and Hannah Bratland (Solberg); his siblings, Kenneth (Gladys), Burnell (Louella), Roland (Ann), Glenn (Elvina), Vernon (Pauleen) and Harriet; and his brother-in-law Oberlin Newgaard.

He is survived by: his wife Margie Esch.

In his memory donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Spring Grove or St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Eden Prairie, MN.
