He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Schmidt and Alma Schmidt (Schley); his sister Carol (Kenneth Olson); and his brother-in-law Alfred Klug. He is survived by: his sons, Clair Jr. Schmidt (Joanne) of Ceylon, Kevin Schmidt (Angie) of Dunnell and Mark Schmidt (Jody) of Becker, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Andrew, Brad Schmidt, Hunter Schmidt, Tyler and Lindsey Schmidt; and his sister Delores Houseman of Ceylon, Minnesota. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
