She was predeceased by: her parents, Arnold Garbers and Lillian Garbers (Schultz); her husband Ralph McKean; her grandson Luke Thompson; her brothers, Merten Garbers and Merle Garbers; and her siblings-in-law, Bruce Helvig, Selmer Matre, Glenn McKean, Dale McKean and Violet Garbers.

She is survived by: her children, Tom McKean (Sandra) of Ceylon, MN, Pat Palmberg (Dale) of Spirit Lake, IA, Peg Thompson (Greg) of Armstrong, IA and Joan Rezac (Roger) of Dolliver, IA; her grandchildren, Jaime Core (Mike) of Fairmont, MN, Dustin McKean (Gena) of Fairmont, MN, Nikki Bremer (Calvin) of Fairmont, MN, Erik Palmberg (Julie) of Denver, CO, Lacie Tedrow (Chad) of Carroll, IA, Brianna Rezac of Fort Dodge, IA and Bryson Rezac of Dolliver, IA; her sister Evelyn Helvig; and her sister-in-law Lois Matre. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
