He was predeceased by: his father Myron Smith; his stepfather Vernon Charmichael; his brother Wayne Smith; his grandmother Isabelle Johnson; his grandson Easton Schlicht; his aunts, Melvina "Bean" Omer, Jeanette "Gin" Underwood, Anita "Jat" Johnson, Greta Johnson and Cynthia Milan; his uncle Lawrence Rogers; his nieces, Justine Stately-Smith and Baby M; and his nephew Daniel J. Smith.
He is survived by: his daughter Ashlee Schlicht (Kyle) of Horace, ND; his mother DeAnna Charmichael (Johnson) of Cass Lake; his siblings, Tony Smith, RoseMarie Johnson, Sandra Berlin, Suzette Gaasvig (Doug), Chrystal "Chrissy" Lura, Verna "Bambi" Mikkelson (Cory), Duane Smith, Sr., Marlin Smith and Shirley Smith; his aunts, Beulah Stone and Sophia Jacobson; his uncle Ira Johnson; and his grandchildren, Taylor, Jaxon and Sky. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
