He was predeceased by: his parents, Warner Johnson and Maxine Johnson (Peil); his wife Michele Maras; and his pet Molly. He is survived by: his children, Amy Monroe (Jim), Katie Bailey (Adam) and Mark Skramstad (Nikki); his grandchildren, Madelynn, Qwentin, William, Katelynn, Emmett, Emma, Maci, Hattie and Chloe; his siblings, Randall Johnson, Darrell Johnson (Linda) and Toni Johnson (Terry); and his caregivers, Todd and Kelly. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Nelson Funeral Care (1004 Cloquet Ave, Cloquet, MN 55720).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the local Disabled American Veterans Chapter 18 (210 Arch Street Cloquet, Minnesota 55720).
