He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Gaalswyk and Janet Gaalswyk; his sister Sharon Gaalswyk; his parents-in-law, Samuel and Sue Kooima; and his siblings-in-law, Jim, Elda VanMaanen and Clarine Kooima.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Gaalswyk (Kooima); his daughters, Amy Crane (Curtis Crane), Stacy Levang (Michael Levang) and Erin Gaalswyk (Kevin Fuller); his grandchildren, Grace Crane, Titus Levang, Grant Crane, Zoe Levang and Boden Levang; his siblings, Marlo Gaalswyk (Debbie Gaalswyk), Barb Held (Bruce Held) and Joyce Braunagel (Brad Braunagel); and his brother-in-law Tim Kooima. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
