It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Virginia Mae Van Derostyne of Canby, Minnesota, who passed away on April 26, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Norman Nelson and Ann Nelson (Reiners); her husband Lawrence VanDerostyne; and her brothers, Verden Nelson (Doris) and Gordon Nelson (Deloris).
She is survived by: her children, Leon VanDerostyne of Porter, MN, James VanDerostyne (Hattie) of Porter, MN, Cheryl Denelsbeck (Randy) of Canby, MN, Gary VanDerostyne (Laurie) of Porter, MN and Gerald VanDerostyne of Porter, MN; her grandchildren, Daniel VanDerostyne and Kayla Watson (Brady); her children, Mark Denelsbeck, Jennifer Leppke (Kristian), SamiJo Kraus (Cody) and Kendra VanDerostyne (Andrew Andersen); her great grandchildren, Henry and Chase Kraus; and her grandchildren, Magnolia and Ivy Watson.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 30th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, May 1st 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel (111 5th St E, Canby, MN 56220). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 1st 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church (108 Haarfager Ave N, Canby, MN 56220).
