He was predeceased by: his parents, Hessel Houtman and Charlotte Houtman (Vanden Berg); and his siblings, Wilbur, Gerald, David, Alice, Lorraine and Hester.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Meyer; his children, Carl Houtman (Jacqueline) of Madison, WI, Jae Houtman (Sue) of Green Bay, WI, Jon Houtman (Jennifer) of Iowa City and Sherrin Houtman (Dennis Paulson) of Howard Lake, MN.; and his sister Dorothy Weisser of Volga, SD. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
