He was predeceased by: his parents, Eric Engstrom and Anna Engstrom (Limbo); his wife Jan; and his siblings, Ells, Lawrence, George and Ruth.

He is survived by: his children, Michael Engstrom (Jean) of Altus, AR, Thomas Engstrom of Cassville, MO, Penni Skaggs (Stan) of Isanti and Traci Chilton (Dave) of Ozark, AR; and his sister-in-law Gladys Engstrom. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.
