He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edward John McDermott and Arlene Bernadette McDermott (Kelly); and his children, Sarah Christine, Sean Michael and Kathleen Heather.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 10th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, December 11th 2024 at 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, December 11th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church (1050 Southview Ave, Braham, MN 55006).
