She was predeceased by: her sister Madison "Maddy" Nelson; her grandparents, Donald and Sandy Nelson; and her close friend Hunter E. Melander. She is survived by: her parents, Scott Nelson and Karen Nelson; her pets, Phil, Finch, Rhett and Sprig; her siblings, Luke Nelson and Chloe Nelson; her grandparents, Douglas and Carole Larson of Isanti; and her aunts and uncles, Brian Nelson (Lisa) of Big Lake, Rick Nelson (Sheila) of Harris, Dawn Hanson (Alan) of Cambridge, Terry Nelson (Kelly) of Cambridge, DeeAnn Kuznia (Jeremy) of Cambridge and Mark Larson of Isanti. She is also survived by many cousins and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The Maddy Nelson Memorial Foundation.
