He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Lorentz Svehaug and Selma Svehaug (Johnson); his wife Rita Schense; his sisters, Shirley Frey (Bob) and Marilyn Forbush; his stepchildren, Scott Schense (Donna), Steve Schense (Therese), Pat Schense (Mary) and Pam Schense; his nieces, Lynette Lively, Penny Harrison (Bill), Caryn Pettey, Shelly Fuhs (Andrew), Susan Cejka (Todd) and Stephanie Wilkinson (Bruce); and his nephew Steve Forbush. He was also cherished by grandchildren, great grandchildren, grandnephews, and grandnieces.

Due to COVID restrictions, private family services will be held and burial will be at Faith Lutheran Church Cemetery, Black Hammer.

Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
