He was predeceased by: his parents, Aloysius Schmitz and Beatrice Schmitz; and his brother Paul Schmitz. He is survived by: his wife Betty Schmitz; his children, Michael Schmitz (Linda), Laura D'Alexander (Gregory), Richard Schmitz (Jana), Andrew Schmitz and Emily Adams (David); and his stepchildren, Tracy Dowling (Bill) and Tom Paus (Lisa). He is also survived by many nieces & nephews.
