“Many folks say "A next door neighbor died" but in the case of Gail Lamott for the 22 years I lived on Hayes Drive she was literally my next door neighbor. Before her the same could be said for Larry Yandel and then before that Irwin Suave all "Next Door Neighbors" all of whom I got to know pretty well all of whom though I moved far away to Florida I can honestly say I miss. Gail had a lovely smile and a positive personality and I'll miss that. It might be one of the better things about moving away from a neighborhood in that you don't have to be eye witness to the people who made it the neighborhood you always knew begin to fade away from us. Our children went to the same schools played together when they were younger and Gail was always part of all the activities we did together as neighbors. Block parties, Progressive dinners, Halloween's and Christmas times Gail was a part of my families life and a part of our neighborhood. It's been said that when someone you know dies a part of you dies with them. I feel that with Gail she was a good friend to my former wife Jean and a reliable eye on our home when we left town so many times. So yes I feel her passing in a very personable way one that doesn't get taken away from your mind as soon as the next activity comes along. My deepest condolences to her husband Earl, her daughter Amy and her son Tony and all of those who were part of her daily life who I know must miss her sorely. Farewell good neighbor goodbye to your cheerful spirit and the sense of community you gave me and so many others. Farewell to the past memories we shared and look back on now fondly as we honor your passing and feel our own mortality as a result. Say hello to Larry and Irwin tell them I'm going to be as late as I possibly can for the Big Hayes Drive Reunion Party in the sky! Goodbye and Farewell to the gentle soul that was Gail Lamott!”
