He was predeceased by: his parents, Alice I. Mattson (Bakeberg) and Clinton B. Mattson; his daughter Therese "Terri" Mengelkoch; and his siblings, Wanda Gilmer, Clayton and Richard "Dick" Mattson.
He is survived by: his children, Michelle "Shelli" Mattson of Minneapolis and Brandon Mattson (Jody) of Waverly; his grandchildren, Amanda Westlund (Ben), Dereck Mengelkoch, Maizie Mattson, Brett Mattson and Libbee Mattson; and his great grandchildren, Nicholas, Noah and Natalie Westlund. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church (1200 MN-25, Buffalo, MN 55313). A memorial service was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for Wounded Warrior Project.
