He was predeceased by: his parents, Cassius McLagan and Doris McLagan (Milbrandt); his sister Glenda Nelson; and his brother-in-law Bill Sisk. He is survived by: his wife Julie McLagan; his children, Don Barkey (Pam) of Shenandoah, PA and Shelly McLagan of Mound, MN; his grandchild Allyssa Ludewig (Josh); his great grandchild Rowan; his grandchildren, Collin Batson (Heather), Tara Batson and Jennie Bernardy (Joshua) of Hector, MN; his great grandchildren, Max and Sam Grabow; and his siblings, Brad McLagan (Sally) of Renville, MN, Martha Sisk of Moorhead, MN and Elizabeth McLagan of Fargo, ND..

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Buffalo Lake Community Center (203 Main St, Buffalo Lake, MN 55314). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 20th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to American Cancer Society or Department of Veterans Affairs.
