He is survived by: his son Mark Thompson (Jennifer) of Brownsdale; his grandson Eric Thompson (Chelsie) of Buena Vista, Virginia; his great grandchild Liam; his close friend Judy Adams; his sisters-in-law, Lola Thompson of Sauk Centre and Janet Thompson of Lakeland, Florida; and his pet Tommy.

Memorials are preferred to the Brownsdale Fire Department.
