He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Appel and Rita Appel (Wolter); his parents-in-law, Woodburn and Bernice Janecky; his brothers, Christopher and Clarence Appel; and his granddaughter Hazel Hoff.
He is survived by: his wife Laurie of Browns Valley; his siblings, Gloria Bartz, Mike Appel (Karen), Don Appel (Laurie), Jack Appel (Tess), Leora Appel (Jill), Gail Varenhorst (Don) and Kim Janecky (Penny); his children, Lisa Toutges (Larry) of Willmar, MN, Tyler Appel (Brittany), Brittany Hoff (Jeremy) of Eureka, SD, Krystina Raw (Andy), Browns Valley, Kylee Appel and Devan Appel; and his grandchildren, Shane, Isabel Toutges, Eli, Kai Appel, Jerimany, Harlow, Harper Hoff, Deandra and Wesley Raw.
