He was loved and cherished by many people including: his fathers, You've and Theodore Kowalczyk; his wife Judy Kowalczyk; his children, Kristin "Krissy" Betker (John), Stephen Kowalczyk (Laurie) and Holly Milless (Jesse); his grandchildren, Tyler, Samantha, Madeline, Sarah (Chris) and Brenna; his great grandchild Oliver; and his brothers, Delmar and Norbert Kowalczyk.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations preferred to the Knights of Columbus Council 6772.
