She was predeceased by: her parents, Arndt Abbas and Polly Abbas (Rippentrop); her husband Gordon Strom; her children, Donald, Darrel and Sandra May; her stepfather Robert Stein; her siblings, Hemme, Hank, Martin Abbas and Henrietta Garrett; her stepsiblings, Evangeline Orthouse, Kathryn Tellock and Kenneth Stein; and her children-in-law, Darrel Gast, William Mitzel and Ann Strom.
She is survived by: her children, Marlene Gast, Wahpeton, Pat A. Mitzel, Mary Lou Roecker (Don), Richard Strom (Nancy), Bruce Strom (Barb Coppin) and Donna Kerry (Kim); and her close friends, Alice Gowin and Marilyn Olson. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren.
