He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Abel and Agnes Abel (Nordick); his wife Lois; his son Tom Abel; his son-in-law Roger Johnson; his granddaughter Teaya Abel; and his siblings, Florence Platt and Robert Abel.
He is survived by: his children, Pamela Johnson of Breckenridge, Mike Abel (Cindi) of Breckenridge, Robin Abel of Wahpeton, Daniel Abel, Sr. of Breckenridge and Sue Pauly (Kellan) of Wahpeton; and his grandchildren, Nikki (Darren), Jami (Eric), Tyann (John), Tyler (Kelly), Tyson (Anna), Krista (Kody), Ryan, Stacie (Daniel), Daniel (Maggie), Rebekka (Mason), Lauren (Adam), Jessica (Erik), Daniel Jr. (Augusta), Aaron Bobby (Brooke) and Alli (Carter). He is also survived by great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
