He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward and Mayme Esther Salo (Lake); his wife Louise Frakie; his siblings, Carl, Darwin, Donald, Howard, Carol Zaeske, Alice Harris, Doris Bosell, Ruth Meisenbach and JoAnn Salo; his siblings-in-law, Arnold Zaeske, Larry Harris, Don Beaver, Darrell Bosell, John Frakie and Margaret Alwin; and his nephews, Bruce Beaver and Darin Bosell.

He is survived by: his daughters, Rebecca Bontjes (Steven) of Brainerd and Tamara Larsen (Mark) of Northfield; his grandchildren, Ashley Bontjes, Andrew Bontjes, Kennedy Larsen and Jacob Larsen; his siblings, Bernice Beaver of Verndale and DeWane Salo (Nancy) of New York Mills; and his siblings-in-law, Jeanette Salo, Rose Salo, Kari Frakie and Valgene Alwin. He is also survived by his family and friends.
