.Henry “Hank” L. Verkennes, 70, of Brainerd, MN took his first step to his next journey on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Good Samaritan Village-Bethany in Brainerd, MN with wife, Vickey holding his hand. Hank's funeral service will be Monday, February 12, 2018 at 3 PM, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Friends may visit during the hour before the service.
Hank was born on December 13, 1947 in Brainerd, MN to Thomas and Hazel (Lowe) Verkennes. He grew up in Brainerd, MN and attended Washington High School. He married Victoria Houle on November 3, 1971 in St. Paul, MN. Hank was a jack of all trades and worked any job that needed to be done. Hank enjoyed fishing, watching westerns and sports.
Hank is survived by his wife, Vickey; children, Joe (Rae) Bennett, Kristine (Kevin Hines), Carl (Nicole) Bennett, Troy, Theresa, Daniel Williams, Trudy (Kevin) Ladouceur, Adam (Sherry) Lane and Desiree; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; god-daughter, Julie Lambert; and brother, Joseph (Wanda) Verkennes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Hazel. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
