He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Burns and Arietta Burns (Brown); his former wife Patricia Landers; his brother Sindal; his sister-in-law Arlys; his parents-in-law, William and Erma Landers; and his grandson Jason Birt.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Mary Karppi (Bohlin); his daughters, Cathy Steel (Mark) and Cheryl Birt (Wendell); his stepchildren, Mary Cyr (Ed) and Daniel Karppi (Georgianna); his sister Pam Knight (Jim Taylor); his grandchildren, Sarah Swartz (Nick), Jennifer Steel, Patricia Birt, Stephanie Luedke (Travis) and Kalen Steel (Niki); and his stepgrandchildren, Ethan Cyr (Cyra), Olivia Fitzpatrick, Patrick Cyr, Molly Cyr and Teagan Cyr. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
