He was predeceased by: his parents, Iver Solomonson and Gladys Solomonson (Olson); his wife JoAnn Appel; his grandson Colin Messerli; his brother Edward Solomonson; and his brother-in-law Mike Appel.

He is survived by: his children, Lana Wymore (Eric), Joel Solomonson (Dana) and Sara Messerli (Craig Lesterson); his grandchildren, James, Cate, Cassie, Peter, Dylan, Philip and Hunter; his siblings, Betty Luggar (Wesley), Joan Anderson (Tom), Roger Solomonson (Cynthia) and Ronald Solomonson (Jan); his sisters-in-law, Donna Solmonson and Deborah Appel; and also, Candice Ryan (Monte) and Russ Appel (Allison). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
