He was predeceased by: his parents, William Gorter and Elizabeth Gorter (Lems); his siblings, Lawrence Gorter, Cora Van Surksum, Leonard Gorter and Andy Gorter; his grandson Justin Ryan; and his son-in-law Danny Ryan.
He is survived by: his wife Connie Gorter of Jasper, Minnesota; his daughters, Terri Ryan of Pipestone, Sherri Hoffman (Bob) of East Bethel and Cindy Hansen (Gorter) of Sioux City, Iowa; his sibling Betts Gorter of Sioux Falls; his grandchildren, Rhiannon, Travis, Mitchell, Karli, Jamie, Jennifer, Hannah, Allison and Benjamin; and his great grandchildren, Madalyn, Peter, Justin, Eva, Maxine, Carter, Dexter, Raelynn, Jade, Aria, Octavian and Ryanne.
He was always working on a woodworking project, whether it was building children's picnic tables to donate to a fundraiser or spending hours crafting mini churches with Connie for loved ones.
