He was predeceased by: his wife Loris Westrom; and his parents, Ida Julia (Sandness) and John Adolf Westrem. He is survived by: his daughters, Barbara Szekely (Daniel), Deborah Anderson (Lane) and Sandra Niblick (Mark); his grandchildren, Jeffrey Luger (Lauren), Julia Luger, Kaylynn Anderson and Jared Anderson; and his great grandchild Wesley Luger.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Harvey I. Westrom Scholarship for Education at the Bemidji State Foundation or the New Salem Lutheran Church, Turtle River, MN.
