He was predeceased by: his parents, Haino Nygard and Lorena Nygard; his brother Wayne; his parents-in-law, Frank and Viola Urick; and his brother-in-law Robert Urick.
He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Urick; his daughters, Michelle Wiklund (Tim), Kim Mattson (Jeff), Susan Sailer (Jim) and Jodi Burgraff (Cal); and his grandchildren, Travis Mattson (April), Joe Sailer, Cassie Polla (Kevin), Trevor Mattson (Jodi), Tom Sailer, Matthew Erjavec (Molly), Jordan Wiklund (Rachel), Jared Wiklund (Kari) and Kelsey Mattson Andy (Joe Pugleasa).
