He was predeceased by: his daughter Wendy McLouth; his son-in-law Scott Mitchell; his siblings, LaVerne Malz, Marian Stoppelmann, Irene, Ervin, Everett, Arnold and Oliver; his stepfather Oscar Erdman; and his stepbrother Deloss Erdman.
He is survived by: his wife Elveramae of Big Lake; his children, Vicki Mitchell of Elk River, Dan McConnell (Laurie) of Becker, Douglas McConnell (Suzanne) of Grantsburg, WI, Cindi McConnell (Dave Fischer) of Elk River, Jeff McConnell (Dena) of Stacy, Connie McConnell of Elk River, Amy Krambeer (Joe) of Zimmerman and Tracy Kraul (Curtis) of Wellington, FL; and his son-in-law Barry McLouth of Big Lake. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
