He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolph Boes and Velma Boes; his wife Shirley Boes; his children, Richard Dean Boes Jr., Bonita Riviness and Linda Boes-Bernard; and his siblings, William Boes, James Boes, Connie Loken, Bernice Boes and Carol Ann Boes.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Boes of Roseau, Patrick Boes (Marci) of Bemidji, Janet Nyhus (Larry) of Roseau and Brenda Promersberger (Dale) of Big Falls; and his siblings, Tom Boes (Gayle) of Big Falls, Ed Boes of Big Falls, Donald Boes (Sharyll) of Coon Rapids, Phillip Boes (Cheri) of Ely, Janie Warner (Ken) of Big Falls, Sandy Flakey (Steve) of Big Falls, Bernita Peterson of Big Falls and Rebecca Lennox (Ed) of Big Falls. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren.
