She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Valentine and Rose Friedlein Valentine; her husband Perry Huston Smith; her grandchildren, Renae Madsen and Dan Volney; and her great grandchild Joshua Orellana.
She is survived by: her children, Sandra Miller (Steve) of Atwater, Vicki Madsen (Steve) of Morton, Kathryn Walsh of Murdock, Beverly Byrne (Pat) of DeGraff, Richard Smith (Lucy) of Paso Robles, Janice Carlson (Frank) of Hanover, Karen Sester (Todd) of Rogers and Angela Schultz (Darren) of Crystal; and her brother Lee Valentine of Colorado. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ.
