Jean Hokanson Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Jean Hokanson of Bemidji, Minnesota, born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 27, 2024 at the age of 94. Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Jean leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Eskil "Ernie" and Bjorg Thorunn "Bertha" Fernstrom; and her son Michael. She is survived by: her husband Donald Dean Hokanson; and her children, Mary Naylor of Bemidji, MN, Terri Snustad of Mankato, MN, Jack (Judy) of Lewistown, MT, Phil of Moorhead, MN, Dan (Mariann), Neil (Terry) of Virginia Beach, VA and Roberta "Berta" Sapa (Chad) of Dilworth, MN.. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
In her later years she knit as many as 50 hats a year to donate to whatever organization could use them. And she loved to dance so in the words of one of her favorite songs, your kids hope you're having a ball and dancing out of your shoes.
