He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Whelan and LaVerne Whelan (South); his brother Brad Whelan; and his mother-in-law Joyce. He is survived by: his wife Kim Whelan; his pet Sassy; his children, Wade Whelan (Danielle) and Mindy Kleeb-Nibbe (Ronnie); and his siblings, Kenneth Whelan (Sharon), Dixie Babin (Charlie), Robert "Bob" Whelan, Teri Graves (Buddy) and Tami Jo Wesley (Fred). He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Eagles Club (1270 Neilson Ave SE, Bemidji, MN 56601).
