He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Thomas Burghart and Pauline Elvira Cunningham; and his sister Donna Blake. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his son Richard; and his brother Daryl (Patricia). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
