He was predeceased by: his mother Ellen VanDerWerf; and his sister-in-law Meredith. He is survived by: his wife Linda; his children, Tia Ronningen (Greg Kline), Candi VanDerWerf (Thomas Hyde), Dan VanDerWerf (Hiba Issa) and Elisabeth Scherer (Jeremy); his grandchildren, Hailey, Logan Peterson, Ethan Ronningen, Lucas and Juliet Scherer; and his brothers, Richard (Nancy), James, Paul (Cindy) and Dean (Mary). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
