He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Gerlach and Grace Gerlach (Nilan); and his sisters, Betty Lou Gerlach and Dorothy McCann Waletzko. He is survived by: his children, Julie Hanowski (John), Jean Gessell (Bob) and Jon Gerlach (Kay); his grandchildren, Beau Hanowski, Benjamin Hanowski (Melissa), Joseph Hanowski (Erica), Katie Samuels (Josh), Anna Leitch (Bennett), Conor Gessell, Zachary Gerlach and Mitchell Gerlach; his great grandchildren, Lillian Hanowski and Deklen Samuels; and his wife Mary J. Woods. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Cloquet Educational Foundation at 302 14th Street, Cloquet, MN 55720.
