He was predeceased by: his mother Carol Maass; and his son Christopher Bean. He is survived by: his father Wayne Bean; his wife Diana Bean; his children, Alicia Berntson (Nate) and Mike Bean (Charolette); his grandchildren, Bradlee Bean, Emilee Bean and Freya Berntson; and his sisters, Tammy Hendricks (Russ), Tracy Schulz (Erich), Lori Wood (Forest) and Julie Bussell.
