He was predeceased by: his parents, Agnes Nefstead (Garlie) and Melvin Nefstead, Sr.; his brother Ronald; and his parents-in-law, Henry and Svea Nelson (Karlsson).
He is survived by: his wife Sonja Nefstead (Nelson); his children, Darcey Larsen (Phil), Eric Nefstead (David Priest) and Kari Christiansen (Scott); his sister Bev Nelsen (Bruce); his sister-in-law Pat Nefstead (Ronnie); his grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, John Larsen, Annika and Erika Christiansen; his siblings-in-law, Lola Grafstrom (Samuel) and David Nelson (Brenda); and his nieces and nephews, Lee, Leslie, Robyn, Dean, Jerel, Matthew, Karl, Sarah, Brita, Sven, Nels, Solveig, Seth and Sara.
A private family memorial service will be held (via Zoom) this week, with plans for a Celebration of Mel's Life service planned for spring/summer of 2021—as we anticipate the lifting of COVID restrictions.
Melvin John Nefstead, Jr., 82, of Baxter, Minnesota, transitioned to his heavenly home November 18, 2020, following a brief hospitalization at Lakewood Health System to treat complications of COVID-19 and Parkinson's Disease.
