He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen Winkle and Luella Van Winkle (Nelson); his wife Helen Hively; and his sisters, Irma and Jane.
He is survived by: his children, Betty Ustanko (Leland Eslinger) of Colman, SD, Gary Van Winkle (Wendy) of Echo, Darlene Sjoberg of Willmar and Mary Turtle (Brad) of Gibbon; his siblings, Dean Van Winkle (Rose Marie) of New Ulm and Betty Johnson of Arizona; and his siblings-in-law, Betty HIvely of Fargo, Evelyn Hively of Marshall and Ray Kirk of Balaton. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials preferred to Avera at Home Hospice or Sillerud Lutheran Church.
